how do i keep settings with all the stuff on root account ?

i just installed the knoppix 3.7 on hdd..onto a 400 Mhz, 256 Sdram, 13 Gb, 64 Video, 2 Gb swap..
after i installed all i saw that the sda1 (wich i saw it under the live cd) disapeared. ?? ..i try it with q-parted to make it at least an swap area..says Ok.. reboot ..but dowesn't appear..what should i do..? maybe i have to put the root access at the login boot ?
2nd problem is about the tunner ... every reboot means that i have to rescan the list of driver tunners, select the approapiat one and then i can see the programs ? why ? again the root ?? cause i don't know what user i use now ...
3rd problem is about my isa audio card, wich i can't see it under knoppix 3.9 or 4.0 dvd or cd version.. and on the configuring tunner chipset it appears an Xdialog.. and i can't figure out what does it mens, cause i was expecting the tunner configuration...
