Knoppix STD booting problem

Ok I downloaded the knoppix 3.8 live cd and ran it in my compaq nw8240 laptop and its running fine, im actually using it now. Well, i then heard about STD so i downloaded that live cd as well. I put it in the disc tray and restarted my pc. The first booting scene came up with the picure of the guy there (logo) and i hit enter and it went through the booting process and when it went to the next screen the screen went blank and was all black. Does any one know what my problem is?
