How to Auto detect internet?

Hi, i am new to knoppix, and linux. I started by using knoppix boot cd, but that got old, so i installed the os to my hard drive. One thing i have noticed is that with the CD it auto detects my internet. When i boot from HD i have no net. I tried using the Knoppix internet setup wizard, but it does not account for my internet configuration. I am directly connected through the internet to a satallite connetction. anyway, i wanna skip the details and techy-ness and get a solid answer... How do i get my HD knoppix to auto connect like my CD boot knoppix? Thanks for the help

Answer #2 will point you to the right section of the wiki, where surely those who believe in hard disk installing will have resolved this extremely common problem with hard disk Knoppix installs for you. This is the #1 problem in trying to put Knoppix where it wasn't intended to go.
