It's been installed and working several years - but can I upgrade the kernel-image-2.4.27 package
to kernel-image-2.6.9 without breaking the system? What preparation, if any, is necessary?
Thanks in advance.

This is a very critical task.
Thearically you have to do an apt-get install kernel-image-x.x.xx, (after an apt-get update, of course). But I guess this is something possible only on a vanilla debian-install. I've failed doing that with kanotix, which install is more debian compliant than knoppix. So doing that with knx looks like quite impossible![]()
Thanks for answering. The warning it gives before install are strong. So re-install Knoppix or install Debian seem the choices. And lots of reading.
