Hello, I just installed and want to make changes to things like /etc/network/interfaces and I reallly hate vi. In other debian distros, I would type as root:

kate /etc/network/interfaces
.

But now under knoppix, I get this error:

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
kate: cannot connect to X server :0.0
Unfortunately this doesn't happen under the non-root userid.

Q: any way to fix?
Q: any other way to log in as root under a GUI editor?
