i have some problems.

i have just linux knoppix 4.0.2in my laptop.i have installed them in hard disk.i am a little beginner.
i want to ask you:
1)can you tell me if i can have only linux and remove windows?
2)when i try to shut down my computer it appears a message:shutting down but the laptop doesn't turn off.
3)i see in readmes.type this in boot prompt or in console.when i go to console for example python,etc. i can type only some words and it will be confirmed as bad or good command.
4)can you tell me saome ways to connect to internet because i don't know or tell me web pages whick conclude this.
