how to add a new item in the Kmenu

hello everybody,

i am costomisng knoppix live cd 3.7
i added a new program while remastering. i added the link in the Kmenu using 'Kmenu--->settings----->menu editor' and also i added the same in the
/usr/share/applnk folder.
But when i burnt the cd and rebooted it, the newly added item was not found in the 'Kmenu'.
If any body help me regarding this, it is of great help.
