I'm trying to customize Knoppix.

apt-get update && apt-get install pine

E: Package pine has no installation candidate

I could install pine from source, but apt-get is better.

PINE is not free software in the debian way. You have to install and compile the source. Also, if you want to redistribute your remaster, you may not be able to include PINE.
