Connecting knoppix and windows

**pulli** · 08-23-2006, 11:17 AM

Hi,

All I have is a laptop with knoppix on and a PC with windows 2000 and a crossover cable. How can I connect the two computers?

Need to transfer files from the laptop that has knoppix running to the win machine.

Thanks!

Use static IP address 192.168.0.1 for windows machine and a create a network share on this machine. On Knoppix machine, enter

Code:

sudo netcardconfig

and assign static IP address 192.168.0.2 to network adapter eth0. Test your connection with

Code:

ping 192.168.0.1 -c 4

Launch Konqueror and enter "smb:/" in address field. This should display shared folder on windows machine. You can now copy files to the network share with Konqueror.
