There are a zillion menu entries in a hodge-podge of subjects and uses, like about 6 or 7 settings groups hidden under different menus, root password is next to soundcard config, DMA acceleration next to desktop selection (but different section than the previous) and I could rant on like that for ever. Really, where's the problem in putting editors under office/editors, players under multimedia/players, knoppix settings under settings/knoppix (and put there ONLY what is Knoppix related)? Shouldn't take more that 2 hours to get them sorted - I know sorting may be subjective but this chaos is really chaos and looks BAD.
The geeks at Bell Labs that originally wrote Unix started things in this disorganized fashion and the trend has continued to the present day Linux distros. Just take a look at the file system and tell me it doesn't look like the hallucinations of some mad scientist. Look at the command line mnemonics for further insanity. For example if you want to print the contents of a file to the screen the command is cat. Make any sense to you?
