Linux Newbie needs help on a LAN card with Realtek RTL8139

My LAN card (RealTek RTL8139 on SMC EZ card 10/100) is not being recognized by Knoppix. I downloaded a driver but it won't install ("no such device" or similar error). Has anyone had problems with such or if s.o. has a clue how can I get it running please help! I'd appreciate it!

i too have this NIC in one of my computers, but havent persued a fix for it. knoppix wont recognize it, neither will any of the other live cds. if u do find a fix, please let me know.

There are two drivers 8139.o and 8138too.o

try probing both of them.

I got mine working thanks to a guy in the IRC channel. thanks alot.

just typed:
sudo modprobe 8139too

then K->Knoppix->Network->Network card config
