HELP! Remedial question regarding HD access

I'm not understanding the file system while running Knoppix DVD. I'm WIN user, new to Linux, but very anxious to learn. How do I access my C drive through the Knoppix filesystem? THANKS

    Welcome to Knoppix!

First of all, once you've booted you should see on the desktop something that looks like either a hard drive or thumb drive. They should be labeled underneath to reflect the controller to which they're attached. It should be, for example, [hda1] for the first partition on the primary hard drive on the IDE (UATA) controller. If it's connected to a SATA controller it most likely will be labeled [sda1]. If none of these appear on your desktop and everything's fine in Windows it's probably a case of the hardware just not being recognised in Knoppix.

Side note, you should cruise these forums as there's a link to an online book someone wrote specifically for Knoppix neophytes.

    HTH,
