connecting to internet

hi,
i am alok,i started using knoppix few days before. i dont have much knowledge of various linux command & configuration.
ples tell how i am able to connect through internet.what configuration & setting i have to do.i am accessing internet through lan.

By default knoppix should be able to detect your network card.
Im assuming you are on a LAN which has a dhcp.
here is what you can do to check whether your NIC card was detected
On a root prompt run
ifconfig eth0


the output should tell you if you have an IP address.
If it does not work try this as root
ifconfig eth0 up
pump -i eth0
