Soft Boot

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how to soft boot ? I have made changes to monitor and graphics card settings and wish to test them without having to reboot .I have saved setting to floppy but wish to just make sure the settings are O.K.

Kill off the X session with CTRL ATL BKSP then when you get to the console /etc/init.d/xsession start.

Hi Stephen,
Tried CTRL ALT + BKSP (assuming BACKSPACE key arrow pointing left) system sent KILL signal and shutdown

What have I done wrong ?

Type this from a console "sudo init 3"

Then type "init 5"

That should work.
