LDAP on Red Hat Linux

I have installed LDAP on Red Had Linux. I created the database,directory and added the recrods, now it is not allowing me to do any modifications,additions in the database.

If any one has worked on LDAP with Linux, please give me some steps for completing the sucessful addition/deletion on LDAP,database.
