Well, I didn't really expect that, but it does give us a direction to look in. It certainly points to the disc itself, and makes it much less likely that you have CD drive problems.

What? you can boot the CD, as long as you don't do the home=scan thing? And you're only mentioning that now?

I have tested with NTFS and Fat32 only.
As far as I know it works fine with FAT. I would never let Knoppix write to NTFS, and I would consider any NTFS partition so written to to be corrupt. I don't use a home setting and have never gotten one to work right, so I stay out of such discussions, at least when I know that's what the poster is posting about. The last thought that I have to offer in this matter is that it would make a lot more sense to tell home where to look for the data than to give it the scan command, at least if scan is having problems.

Sorry Harry I didn't knew that was important. I could boot from this livecd always.
The only problem I have is knoppix.img getting corrupted or something as I mentioned...
You told me that it could be the cd I believed you. I'm the newbie here man
    Sorry if I misleaded you.

Let me try to explain the situation again
    I'm using hda5 (Fat32) to host knoppix.img now. Nevermind NTFS. I'm using Fat32
I boot from livecd and enter home=scan to let the livecd find knoppix.img automatically and indeed it's always found.

    Then I get those messages
/media/hda5/knoppix.img was not cleanly umounted. check forced.
Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks, and sizes
Deleted inode 18 has zero dtime. Fix? yes
Deleted inode 19 has zero dtime. Fix? yes
    (...)
    then
    >> /home/knoppix mounted OK from /media/hda5/knoppix.img
    >> Read-only CD/DVD system successfully merged with read-write /media/hda5/knoppix.img

Fluxbox starts and I run the apps I want.
Fluxbox/Exit and the system shuts down normally.

Next time I boot I get similar errors on knoppix.img
    I don't know why...

I'll try the home=/dev/hda5 as you said just to make sure
but as I said knoppix.img gets found with "scan".
I'll check that out tomorrow and let you know. It's 1:33 AM and I'm falling asleep

Thanks again for your time and sorry for the misunderstanding

    Hi again

If I write home=/dev/hda5/knoppix.img nothing gets found
If I write home=scan or nothing knoppix.img gets found
