got this combination:

ATI raedon express 200 with nec multisyn LCD 1525m screen,

knoppix 5.1.1 boot gets to the stage of recognising both of the above then freezes permanently with last line of the boot dialog being a list of screen resolutions that it will use.

I am posting this on the same computer using a linux puppy. which as you can see is able to get past the blockage.

no solution in knoppix offered, just informing those who can do something about the problem.

(maybe it is xmodule=raedon as solution but i am not rebooting at this stage.)
