My girl friend crashed her laptop and since taking out the HD is such a pain I put the latest version of Knoppix in and it booted up just fine. Only one small problem is that some of her folders and files were in Japanese and they are no where to be seen.

On the pop up message I clicked the JP version and it came up like this: [][][][][][][] as if there were no language pack.

In the Control center under regional and Accessibility there is a feature to turn the language into Japanese but it still shows up as [][][][][] untill I click reset. Any suggestions?

and lastly how do I get to find my hidden file thats in Japanese?
