Knoppix 5.1.1 boots OK on my Dell Dimension 2400 without needing cheatcodes, but the new 5.3.1 doesn't, going to a blank screen after starting the X-Window session.
Following the advice in the article "Knoppix/BootProcess" at http://www.cwelug.org/cgi-bin/wiki.c...ix/BootProcess, grepping the /etc/sysconfig/knoppix in both 5.1.1 and 5.3.1, yielded "i810" for the xmodule for both. Trying "fbdev" instead as a cheatcode let the graphics work, booting into a 1024x768 screen size at 85 Hz, which is the best the monitor can do.
What would have changed to need a cheatcode now, as both 5.1.1 and 5.3.1 seem to identify the graphics system and monitor capabilties correctly?
