How to put HD labels back in order?

Hey I had a Knoppix 5.1 Hd install debian install on /dev/sda1 go bad on me (actually I helped it go bad with stupidity)and I deleted it and its partition to make more room for UBuntu on /dev/sda2. When I created a new partition at the end of the drive for a Knoppix 5.3.1 home, gparted labeled it /dev/sda1 even though its the 7th partition.

Is there a way to put my drives back in order? Maybe its not possible. I need to shift 2 thru 7 down 1 and rename the current 1 as 7.

    /dev/sda1 378844830 390716864 5936017+ 83 Linux
    /dev/sda2 63 29334689 14667313+ 83 Linux
    /dev/sda3 * 29334690 29543534 104422+ 83 Linux
    /dev/sda4 29543535 378844829 174650647+ 5 Extended
    /dev/sda5 29543598 37367189 3911796 82 Linux swap / Solaris
    /dev/sda6 37367253 359679284 161156016 83 Linux
    /dev/sda7 359679348 378844829 9582741 83 Linux

    You can not.
SDa1 - thro SDa4 are the partition slots in the MBR. (can only have 4)
SDa5 and up are logical volumes. (can have 20 +, can depend on linux version)

In your case SDa1,2,3 are your primary partitions while SDa4 is the extended partition with logical volumes SDa5 thro 7 with in it.

It would be possible to move SDa2 to Sda1, Sda3 to Sda2, SDa1 to SDa3 but doing so would likely mess up a lot of other things.

Yeah I was thinking after I posted that even if I could, it would require editing all my grub entrys and likely in a month I'll change something around anyhow. Thanks for the reply
