I have an application that's supposed to generate /tmp/somefile.lock in the chroot source/KNOPPIX but it never seems to write it there, is it possible the temp files go somewhere like

/tmp

instead of

/mnt/hda1/knx/source/KNOPPIX/tmp

though I don't see any files either place. How does the chroot "know" where to write temp files? If I run

touch /tmp/somefile

as root in the chroot, it works fine.
