I unplugged the ethernet, inserted the card and a few seconds later a box showed up said that a wireless network was available, I clicked it and it worked.

A plain vanilla Linksys Wireless N PCMCIA card that does NOT work in maybe...oh..... five HUNDRED other distos!!! and a Linksys wireless router about 10 feet away.
