Hi Everyone Happy New Year If you have to wait 40secs to 60secs for the first document you try to open on starting up openoffice (second and subsequent documents open in a few secs) - try this fix from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...rg/+bug/592176 scroll down to #11 so open gedit as root and add second line to /etc/hosts file 127.0.0.1 Microknoppix localhost Microknoppix.(none) Who says magic is dead? - this problem has been around at least since 2008 - but the good news is that the same fix that worked then, still works now.
