The distro is very good. The only problem I have is the breaking into bricks of windows when shutting them off. Its troubling my eyes. How can I get rid of that? Of course, without losing other Compiz Fusion effects.

Take a look in the menu system - somewhere there's a "Compiz Control Panel" that should give you that fine-grained control (I just don't remember where.) Maybe someone else will jump in with the details.
