Nice to hear, that your problem is solved. I for myselve never use rewriteable DVD and have no experience with this. Before burning DVD I disable the screensaver; with K3b I use 4x speed and last but not least I do nothing else with the computer in this time.

Can you now use the cheatcode "knoppix testcd"?

    Greetings Werner

    Greetings, knp.

In regard to your post #10:

Emoticons are called 'smilies' on this forum.
Apparently these are 'on' by default, but can be turned off.
I'm occasionally embarrassed by them myself. See:

    http://knoppix.net/forum/faq.php?faq...aq_vb3_smilies

    Cheers.

    Thanks to Mr Werner

    Mr Werner
As promised I told you about my problem in my last post.
The cheatcode "Testcd" (and even "Testdvd") works ok.
On one other way "memtest" has never worked on my laptop even with "the 6.4.4_DVD"
without creating any problem until today.
Finally my "bad english" lacks suitable vocabulary to explain you the real problem.
By "...Stay on the DVD..." I meant "booting on the DVD and getting "then Knoppix_live_DVD"
    OS_program.
Especially the "1st screen proposing boot options like all cheatcodes.
    That was absolutly impossible.

    Best greetings.
    knp

Thanks to UTU "About Smileys" and "emoticones"

    Thanks you Utu.

Not only I learn the good vocabulary "smileys" but your link teach me a few on
    the "until_not_clear_for_me" notions of:
1°)- "Post"...Especially "New Post" which I never see since my 1st one (this "thread" ?)
2°)- "Thread". Especially "Subscribing" (Does exist "Unsbscribing" ?)
What is the real difference between these two notions ("POST" and "THREAD") ?

My "bad English" is necessarily very "imprecise" to formulate my questions
    But I'am learning
    Best greetings
    knp

    Greetings again, knp.

These are my understanding of the terms you ask about:

A "post" is one complete message on the forum.
I am answering your post #14.

A "thread" is a series of these messages all on the same subject.
    Such as: post #1 + post #2 + ... + post #14, for example.

Post #1 was a "new" post which established the subject.

"Subscribing" is adding oneself to a list to be notified of additional
postings on a given thread. "Un-subscribing" is asking to be removed
from the list to be notified. Notification is via e-mail.

    Regards,
    -utu

    Thanks you utu

    Good evening utu
Thanks you for your good explanations.
I returned to my "school english" to "recall thread" as somewhat an "abstract analog" of the physically one used by "my taylor" !
    Greetings
