So I do a MC of b43 (Mint tried & true) and
use ssb? What is the logic? I would like to see
something in Synaptic Package Manager, etc.,
about ssb status?

BOTH b43 and ssb:

install wl /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install wl $CMDLINE_OPTS
