How to install a RPM appliction?

I`ve tried with KPackade but it gives me an error message. (I don`t remember it). Is there a way to install RPM 4 from Red Hat?

alien -i packagename.rpm

I think it does it, someone b4 told me that on the forum, if u had searched , you could find an answer
