Broken Knoppix Installation using Partition Magic

I have a win2000 system, with a linux partition, I use smart boot manager on a floppy to boot to Linux, so that the machine boots to win unless the floppy is in the drive, in which case it boot to linux.
I recently expanded my ext2 linux partition using Partition Magic in windows, and now it will not boot, smart boot manager starts to boot, but then the screen fills with 9 9 9 9 9 9 etc.
Can I repair this without reinstalling? If so, how....
    Thanks!

Sounds like you hosed up LILO. Reinstall LILO to your Knoppix partition and see if that works. I presume you are still able to boot wimpdoze?

I only have time for a quick version:

Boot the Knoppix cd (remember it is a rescue disk too!).

    Mount your Knoppix partition.

    chroot /mnt/hda?

    /sbin/lilo

    Sorry!
    I get a lot of
    bas: /dev/null: Permission denied

I have changed the drive to be read / write, and am root.
    Appreciate your help,

When I run lilo I get

Unrecognized token "! Please edit /etc/lilo.conf before running lilo!" at or above line 20 in file '/etc/lilo.conf'

    Sorry!

    Thanks!
I got it working again with:
    sudo mount -t ext3 /dev/hda3 /mnt/hda3
    sudo chroot /mnt/hda3
    sudo /sbin/lilo

Appreciate the help, the best 24/7 service agreement I have ever seen!

I would love to! I don't know anything else that can mess around with NTFS partitions though - any clues?
