Oh ok- well then post lspci -v and lsmod
Have you tried both USB 1.1 & 2.0? Do lsmod before connecting your mouse and after connecting your mouse and see if any new modules show up. Also have a look in /var/log/syslog
Weird that USB worked before but it doesn't now.
