how to modify screen resolution and refreshrate???question says it all

situation:
knoppix installed on hd (NOT running from cd)
everything works fine with 19" monitor but the original monitor is a 14" witch needs a res of 640x480
gimme a howto with clear steps

To change the resolutionj on the fly:

CTRL+ALT+ +/-

The configuration file for the resolution and refresh rate is

/etc/X11/XF86Config-4

You can also do this with a gui by running kxconfig as root. You'll need to restart X after making the changes.

It works, no more problems...
only.... my cd and floppy are not detected in the graphical mode...
