I am backing up hard drives on a couple Sony Vaio models and having serious trouble. I am using dd with an Adaptec firewire pcmcia card and a Maxtor external hard drive. dd starts smoothly but dies avter about 15-30 minutes with an Input/Output error. THe same process and hardware works great on other laptop brands, but the Sony fails. Help!
