Have you tried the cheat code knoppix noddc at the boot: prompt? Knoppix sometimes has problems with the detection of some monitors. You may also want to put xmodule=nv on the line for your video card as well.
Hope someone can help. When i boot from cd everything is ok til just after the detecting harware part when my monitor shuts down into standby mode asif i have powered down.

Athalon 1Ghz
384 mb ram
Nvidia FX5200 128
Cable modem
Dvd Drive
Yamaha cdrw
Sounblaster Live
I have also tried to install Debian from cd to no avail

That has not worled eitherPlus My system does not want to install Linux of any version on my spare HD. Think it could be a problem with my graphics card.
