no dsl after hd-install & reboot - what else to research

hi, dear knoppix-freaks

i had this problem with the july-version already, hoped it might vanish now, but ... unfortunately ... so i hope some kind soul over here might help me. plus i hope this is in the right topic, as it relates to the hd-install i assume so.
i did read similar threads in networking, though ...

my dsl does not work after i installed knoppix to hd. strangely it does work after logging in for the first time, but after one reboot - no. how can i find out wether there might be a demon lacking or something like that?

(i don't get more info when booting knoppix from cd but then i am online.)

here i get the message that no other session was possible.

i checked the logs but i do not really know what to search for. i did not find anything that strikes me strange.

if anyone might have any ideas, i would be grateful.

i also did check the resolv.conf
it does contain two ips that appear to be automatically received. i tried to change them to the dns my provider gave me in the written paper, but i do not know how to activate this immediately & it disappeared the next time i booted.
i cannot ping either of these servers, which i can when i am online.

hope you can help me, i do not know where to look & what it might be.

Did you run ' pppoeconf '?

Did you run netcardconf? Search this forum for details but I think you might get away with just accepting the defaults.

pppoeconfig will work for that session only until you run netcardconf


[NOTE: the commands might be "pppoeconf" and "netcardconfig", not at my home computer right now so I'm not sure]
