I can connect to the Internet with XP but not with Knoppix

hey i love this os its so perfect for what i would use it for.
just the one thing.... i cant get the internet....

i have a highspeed dsl modem pluged into my realtek rtl8139/810x nic card
it picks up the nic and says everything is a go... i run ifconfig -a and it shows me the ip i have from my isp... so it has to connect to the isp if im right...

but how do i get the internet on there now ??

any help would be great thanks alot

Are you getting any errors when you try to browse? Do you use PPPoE or do you have an always on connection? A few more details will be necessary.
