why will 3.2 load and not 3.3

I have a Packard Bell 300-333Mhz. Cyprix processor. 3.2 loads and runs. I assumed that newer is better, but 3.3 gets to the boot prompt and the screen goes grey. Any suggestions?

The iso image was probably bad

Sorry, I did check that. Both 3.2 and 3.3 run great on my E-machine.
