Saving data

Hi All,

When booting form the CD, I have a read only access to HD ( /mnt/hda1)
on the laptop I am running WIN XP with NTFS.
How can I save data created in the linux (such as open office document)
on the HD? If not possible can I save the data on a FAT device (such as USB disk on key...)
