Screen cheat code not working

Start-up Knoppix 3.3 with:

knoppix screen=1280x1024

or

knoppix screen=1024x768

doesn't work. I just get a 800 by 640 display. These codes worked fine with Knoppix 3.2. Is this a known problem?

I can't get a working configuration of X on my laptop with 3.3; but 3.2 works fine. So, there may be a problem with X in 3.3.
