I cant write anything onto any of my hard drives for backup.

*note:I am a knoppix newbie(linux too)

Windows has failed me and my win xp cd screwed my windows over.

I want to back up the files the setup is gonna format so im using knoppix but i cant move any of the files anywhere except my desktop.(which i dont know which drive its one).

Can someone tell me what to do that lets me write anything onto any hard drive using knoppix, step by step preferably.

Hi loongy22,

right click on your drive icons and make it writable.
Your desktop is on the ramdisk so it's gone if you switch off

You can read the faq of IBM System recovery with Knoppix (Late News). I have Knoppix 3.3 (24/09/03) if you have problem that you can not write even if you right click on your drive icons to make it writable, read the IBM faq carefully and follow the instructions.
