no samba windows printing with linux ?

i can not print with a windows printer from my linuxsystem
it is a bit strange beacuse i can read the shared hard disk
with mount -t smb so the problem is not the smb client

also all other windows computers can print on the windows computer
so windows is not to blame either

i have this problem with knoppix 3.2
and redhat 8.0
do thes distributions use the same ( rotten ?? ) printer software

i hope some one with real understading of linux can help me ?
