i realize that i'm the only one here that uses Afterstep, but when trying to run kmail or konqueror from a non kde windowmanager it does not run. After some tinkering i came up with.

phrostie@Sarge:~$ kmail --display Sarge:0.0
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
kded: cannot connect to X server Sarge:0.0
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-3292' to 'kded'
ERROR: Communication problem with kded, it probably crashed.
kdeinit: Can't connect to the X Server.
kdeinit: Might not terminate at end of session.
kmail: cannot connect to X server Sarge:0.0
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-3281' to 'kmail'
ERROR: Communication problem with kmail, it probably crashed.
phrostie@Sarge:~$ Mutex destroy failure: Device or resource busy

i can ping Sarge fine and all other apps run fine just not kmail or konqueror.
i tried switching to balsa and thunderbird but just down't like the feel.

any help is appreciated.
