I'd suggest that you repartition your firewire hd with one huge partition, boot knoppix, mount your fw hd and then use partimage (somewhat norton ghost-ish) to store images of your three windows partitions onto the fw hd.
BTW, it is always a good idea to keep your backup media offsite, in case your house burns down or something alike
