The comand whereis kde returns /usr/include/kde ... .. but these are only the libraries .. and locate kde finds a lot of files ...

Do it with apt-get, but, from memory:
it takes ages (Kde is huge!)
the safe way to do it is through unstable.
There is a thread somewhere here on doing it.
