commnad line ordering

I have searched the forums but can't find what I need.

When knoppix boots my screen is about a half inch offset to the right, leaving a black top to bottom stripe on the left side and an equal sized part of the desktop unseen on the right.

Booting using "knoppix xmodule=vesa" solves the problem, however neither "knoppix xmodule=vesa floppyconfig" nor "knoppix floppyconfig xmodule=vesa" work. Is there a solution?

And more generally where is there info on the correct ordering of commands at the boot prompt? and which cancel out which.

What I have found to be the case is that if I do "knoppix floppyconfig" it will load with what would happen if i attributed nothing at the boot screen. Towards the end of the boot process i will se a line that says something about reading knoppix.sh or some such (can't remember exactly" and then all of my additional boot comands from the prior time will work. (wheel mouse xmodule=vesa)
