Still can't do 1024x768 screen resolution?

Hi all,
Have Knoppix 3.3 16-02-2004 installed on HDD but I can't get 1024x768 working, anyone care to look at the XF86Config file for me

From looking at your XF86Config(-4) file the 1024X768 modeline is in the
# Extended modelines with GTF timings
section. There is a 1280X1024 standard modeline so you should be able to run in that mode.

Can you run in 1024X768 when you run from the CD live?
You may need to use a cheatcode or two, such as screen=1024X768 and possibly xvrefresh=75 (or whatever works...), also check out the available cheatcodes for your release as I don't have any newer releases, (as I have dial-up).

Are you running a knoppix install or a debian install? If you are running a knoppix install (detects hardware at boot) you will have to experiment with cheatcodes to get your screen resolution working correct (as above) then you will need to edit your syslinux.cfg file and include the necessary cheatcodes. I don't have a knoppix box running right now, so I'm going from memory....

If you are running a debian install, once you get your screen resolution where you want it running from CD, (as root) mount your hd (or use a floppy) and save the knoppix created working XF86Config-4 file to /etc/X11, then your screen resolution should be OK.
