I burned 3.3 to a CD but it looks like all I got was a promotion for Knoppix what did I do wrong

what did you do ? did you just insert the CD in your drive while being under windows ? coz if so, you'll just have access to a bit of documentation ...

if you reboot the computer with the cd inthe drive and have "boot from cd" choosen in BIOS, it should boot linux,
if it doesnt work let us know. you may need a boot floppy, that is a floppy that "kickstarts" Knoppix.
