The floppy is only needed if your computer BIOS doesn't support CD-ROM booting which most new BIOS do.
To check enter your BIOS setup on the computer boot up (normally when it shows the computer manufacter) hit the button stated on boot up (usually F1, F2, F10, F12, Delete)
