no, sadly not. have you checked if it is found? and as what?
and check the /mnt/ if there is a dir called floppy there, it might be that simple.Code:dmesg |grep fd
I successfully got Knoppix installed to my HD. When I click on my desktop's floppy icon I receive
Any suggestions?Code:Unable to run the command specified. The file or directory file:/mnt/floppy does not exist.

Okay I tried the dmesg and recevied:
So I went into my fstab and found:Code:Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
When I cd to /dev/fd0 to find "floppy" I get:Code:# /etc/fstab: filesystem table. # # filesystem mountpoint type options dump pass /dev/hdc3 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1 /dev/hdc2 none swap sw 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/fd0 /floppy vfat defaults,user,noauto,showexec,umask=022 0 0 /dev/cdrom /cdrom iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0 /dev/cdrom1 /cdrom1 iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0 /dev/dvd /dvd iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0 /dev/cdaudio /cdaudio iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0 # Added by KNOPPIX /dev/hdc1 /mnt/hdc1 auto noauto,users,exec 0 0 ~
So I put in a cd and mount /dev/cdrom, the drive begins to spin and then I receive:Code:bash: cd: /dev/fd0: Not a directory
This is very strange to me. I hope someone can help.Code:mount /dev/cdrom mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom, or too many mounted file systems

then edit /etc/fstab, change the "/floppy" entry to "/mnt/floppy" for instance like this:Code:su mkdir /mnt/floppy exit
For the cdrom we would need to find out where it is located logically, look in /var/log/messages.Code:su kedit /etc/fstab exit
Mine contains:
You should look for something similar.Mar 18 09:36:31 tuxbox kernel: SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00

Then check where /dev/cdrom points at the moment (it might be wrong), like this:
Post back what you found & we will try to figure out what to do next.Code:ls -l /dev/cdrom
BTW, did the CD you used already have some data on it (not blank or an audio CD) if not then I'd expect it to do something like that![]()
To mount the floppy, try:
Was the cdrom you tried to mount a data cd? Like was just said, you don't need to mount audio cds, and will get that error message if you try, because the fstab is expecting an ISO9660 format. If it was data you may just need to try something else, likeCode:mount /dev/fd0 /floppy
Code:mount /dev/scd0 /cdrom
Right click on the icon for the floppy select delete then right click on the desktop and choose create new then floppy device. In the device tab of the dialog that comes up select the /dev/fd0 from the menu list name it what you want and save the shortcut and you should be able to access the floppy with the icon.Originally Posted by DrWhom
