first of all, i am new to linux

i have an old adaptec aha1542b scsi controller with one hdd
on boot, knoppix detects it and says "Probing SCSI... aha1542.o"
then it hangs (i can press enter and jump lines, but it doesnt do anything

it boots fine with the scsi unplugged or with "noscsi"


also, the board has a 3dRage IIC agp chip, and it only works when i boot with
fb800x600, otherwise when it boots the screen just keeps flashing
