cat switch resolution + nvidia (konppixKDE on HD)

Hi,
im trying to change the resolution to 1024x768, in kxcfg,
but everytime i restart the xserver it swtiched back to 640x480,
i also tryid to manually edit the XF86config-4, all lines start with 1024
but nothing changes.

how can i install the nvidia driver on HD?
tryid to do it with this lines

but than i get this message:
nvidia-glx: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.1-1) but 2.2.5-14.3 is to be installed

now i compiled them with dpkg,
but i need the kernel-headers for the kkde kernel,
how can i get them?
have downloaded a bunch with apt-get install kernel-headers*
but the right ones are not there,

please help

ps: is it safe to update the whole version with apt-get upgrade?
and when i do this, is KDE3.1 already there,
or do i only need to update the Kernel and how can I do this
without compiling it by my hand??

hi there,

I'ff got the exact same problem om my notebook, when i login as user the screenres is 640x480 even after setting it to 1024x768

it only happend as an user not as root

by the way, al the settings are lost when i logout en login again as user, i do not get a options on logout to save my settings?!

it seems that the kdm screen is also in 640x480
anyone?
