Knoppix Locks My Computer

Just burned a copy of Knoppix and tested it out. The first time I was able to boot into Knoppix just fine, but I locked up after about 3 minutes of use. The other 2 times I attempted to boot to Knoppix, I locked during the boot process (while Knoppix was starting system files). Any help would be appreciated.

FYI - Using a Dell Dimension 2400
256 MB DDR
2.4 GHz Celeron
40 GB HD (30 GB Free)

look if it works if you type knoppix 2 nosmp noscsi after the boot:
then try the other cheatcodes under docs. there is a LOAD of things to try,
the ones above might work, you won't have a graphic environment but... if it works, reboot with ctrl+alt+del, the try without the 2 (that causes the text only mode)
